In the distant future, humanity is gone—but every entity on Earth has become sentient. As the info booth attendant at the only mall aboard Spaceship ATMOS, you assist a diverse array of beings searching for a new home. Using a speech translator, you decode their unique languages and help them navigate the mall via tools like a directory, camera system, and music controls.

This voice-controlled game explores the complexities of communication through imperfect speech recognition, emphasizing understanding rather than authority. Unlike traditional voice-driven games, you take on the role of a helper, bridging linguistic gaps for inanimate yet expressive patrons. The experience is fully embodied—placing players in front of a teller-style window with a stylized microphone and a neo-futurist control center—encouraging empathy as they uncover the stories of the mall’s visitors.

TIKATMOS was developed in collaboration with the Whaaat!? Lab of the ATLAS Institute at CU Boulder.

TIKATMOS won the Live Action Award at the 2022 IndieCade Festival.
