Electronic Seance uses salvaged electronics, circuit boards, and recycled TVs, activated by the audience with a touch-conductive divination altar. Touching the interface manipulates animations on the TVs and sounds playing through speakers, blurring the distinction between interactive art and playable instrument. The work investigates what happens when we use technology to regenerate discarded objects instead of the endless search for the new that inevitably produces a culture of waste. Electronic Seance utilizes play as an intervention to the predominantly extractivist techno-culture, re-contextualizing technology use through a restorative lens.
